The Sunday Standard
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
Colossians 3:23
“Let all things be done decently and in order.”
1 Corinthians 14:40
At Local, Sundays matter deeply.
Not because we worship a service. Not because we care about performance. But because every Sunday creates space for people to encounter Jesus.
Every Sunday, people walk into church carrying something. Pain, questions, anxiety, addiction, loneliness. curiosity, hope. Some people arrive full of faith, others arrive hanging on by a thread. And we never know what one moment in the presence of God might do in someone’s life.
That’s why we care so deeply about Sundays. Because details matter when people matter.
At Local, we believe excellence is spiritual. Not because God loves polished things more, but because people deserve intentionality, preparation, beauty, warmth, clarity, and care.
We are not trying to impress people. We are trying to remove distractions so people can clearly encounter Jesus. Sundays are not just events we host, they are environments we steward.
And we believe healthy Sundays are built through prayer, preparation, leadership, hospitality, urgency, excellence, and heart. This is The Sunday Standard.
The Philosophy Of Sunday
Sundays Are About People
Before programs and production, people. Every system exists to serve people. Every role matters because every person matters.
We do not build Sundays around production value alone, we build Sundays around creating spaces where people feel seen, welcomed, loved, safe, and connected to Jesus.
Excellence Is Our Evangelism
Preparation communicates care. Excellence does not mean perfection, it means stewardship.
We prepare thoroughly because people deserve our best effort. From signage to kids ministry, from audio to hospitality, from cleanliness to communication, every detail tells a story.
And we want the story people experience to say: “You matter here.”
We Carry Atmosphere
Culture is felt before it is explained.
Energy matters. Body language matters. Urgency matters. Joy matters. People can feel when a room is alive with faith, expectancy, warmth, and unity.
We do not serve casually, we serve intentionally.
We smile. We engage. We move with purpose. We carry peace. We carry faith. Because atmosphere is leadership.
We Don’t Host Events. We Host People.
Hospitality is ministry. At Local, we are not interested in creating cold, transactional environments.
We want people to feel genuinely welcomed and intentionally loved.
We notice people. We walk people, not point. We prioritize guests. We make room. We remember names. We create belonging.
Church should feel like coming home.
We Arrive Ready
Sunday preparation starts long before Sunday morning. We prepare spiritually, emotionally and administratively.
We pray. We rest. We review. We communicate. We show up with expectation.
Because how we arrive affects what we build.
The Sunday Flow
Before Load-In
We prepare before we arrive. We encourage every team member to:
Get proper rest
Prioritize spiritual health
Pray before serving
Review plans and communication
Arrive early and ready
Carry expectation
We don’t arrive chaotic and disconnected, we arrive prepared to serve people well.
Load-In Standard
The moment load in begins, culture begins. We move with urgency, joy, teamwork, and intentionality.
Music should already be playing. Leaders should already be leading. People should already feel momentum.
We avoid standing around, disengagement, complaining, or low energy. We serve with ownership.
Every cable matters. Every chair matters. Every sign matters. Every detail matters.
Because someone’s encounter begins long before service starts.
Team Huddle Standard
Before doors open, we align spiritually and relationally. Team huddles are moments for:
Vision
Prayer
Communication
Honor
Encouragement
Energy alignment
We do not gather simply to exchange information, we gather to strengthen culture.
This moment matters because healthy teams build healthy Sundays.
Doors Open Standard
When doors open, ministry begins immediately. Every person should feel acknowledged. Every guest should feel prioritized.
We do not cluster. We do not create cliques. We do not become distracted.
We stay engaged, available, observant, and intentional.
We understand that hospitality is not a department, it’s a spirit.
Auditorium Standard
We lead the room we want others to experience.
We worship engaged.
We listen attentively.
We stay present.
We avoid unnecessary distractions and side conversations.
Transitions should feel smooth. Moments should feel intentional. The room should feel alive with faith and expectation.
We understand that excellence creates clarity.
Kids Standard
We believe children deserve excellence too.
Safety matters. Cleanliness matters. Warmth matters. Preparation matters.
Parents should feel peace when checking in their children.
Kids should feel loved, safe, excited, and valued.
We are not babysitting children, we are discipling future generations.
Post-Service Standard
Ministry does not end when service ends. Some of the most important moments happen after the final song.
We stay available.
We help people connect.
We pray for people.
We create conversations.
We engage guests.
We tear down with excellence.
We do not disappear immediately after service, because people matter beyond the platform moment.
The Leadership Standard
At Local, leaders set the tone.
Leaders arrive first.
Leaders serve hardest.
Leaders protect culture.
Leaders carry responsibility.
Leaders stay solution-oriented.
Leaders bring clarity.
Leaders create calm, not chaos.
We understand that leadership is not position, it’s influence.
And healthy influence builds healthy environments.
Leaders do not complain publicly.
Leaders do not create confusion.
Leaders do not wait to be asked.
Leaders go first.
Our Non-Negotiables
At Local:
We don’t do sloppy.
We don’t do Sunday cliques.
We don’t point people. We walk people.
We don’t say, “Someone should.”
We take ownership.
We notice details.
We move with urgency.
We choose joy.
We stay solution-oriented.
We lean int the whole service.
We protect the atmosphere.
We honor the room.
We connect people.
We serve people, not our preferences.
The Heart Behind It All
At the end of the day, Sundays are holy. Not because a building is holy, but because moments with God change people forever.
One Sunday can restore a marriage.
One Sunday can heal someone’s faith.
One Sunday can introduce someone to Jesus.
One Sunday can change the direction of a person’s life.
That is why we prepare.
That is why we serve.
That is why we care.
We are not simply setting up a gathering, we are helping create space for people to encounter the presence of God.
And we believe that when we serve with humility, excellence, faith, unity, and intentionality, God uses those environments to transform lives.
This is The Sunday Standard.
And it is an honor to build it together.
